↗ · Sign Sail vs Typeform

Beautiful forms, but where's the signature?

Typeform makes the best-looking conversational forms in the business. It doesn't make them legally signable. If your form is a waiver, an agreement, or a consent, that gap is the whole decision.

· Side by side

This is the least head-to-head comparison on this site, because the two tools optimize for different endings. A Typeform ends in submitted data: survey answers, lead details, quiz results, beautifully collected one question at a time. A Sign Sail form ends in a legally binding signature with a tamper-evident audit trail baked into a PDF. Typeform has no native legal e-signature; you'd wire it to a separate e-sign tool and pay for both. And the response math matters too: Typeform's $29/mo Basic plan includes 100 responses a month, while Sign Sail's $12/mo Pro includes 1,000.

· Fair is fair

When Typeform is the better pick.

  • You're running surveys, quizzes, NPS, or research. Typeform's conversational format measurably lifts completion on long questionnaires, and Sign Sail doesn't do that format.
  • Brand experience is the point. Typeform's design polish, video embeds, and animations are the best in the category.
  • You need a mature marketing-stack integration catalogue. Typeform connects to hundreds of tools out of the box.
  • Nothing you collect ever needs a signature. Then Sign Sail's core feature is dead weight, and Typeform is simply the nicer form tool.

· Questions

Asked before you switch.

Can't I just add a signature question to a Typeform?

You can collect a drawn image, but a legally defensible e-signature needs more than a picture: intent and consent capture, signer attribution (IP, timestamp, user-agent), and record integrity you can prove later. Sign Sail bundles a SHA-256 hash and a frozen copy of the form into every signed PDF. A drawn image in a survey response carries none of that, and you'd have a hard time defending it.

Which is cheaper at real volume?

At signature-relevant volume Sign Sail costs less: 1,000 submissions for $12/mo billed annually vs Typeform's 100 responses at $29/mo on Basic. To match 1,000 responses on Typeform you'd be on Plus at $59/mo, and you still wouldn't have a signature, an audit trail, or a signed PDF without paying for a second tool.

Can I use both?

Plenty of teams do: Typeform for marketing surveys and lead capture, Sign Sail for anything that needs a signature, like client intake, waivers, and agreements. They solve different problems, and the free Sign Sail tier (2 forms, 25 submissions a month) makes the split cheap to try.

Legal-grade on every plan.

Every signature carries the signer's IP, a UTC timestamp, the user-agent, a SHA-256 hash, and a frozen copy of the form, baked into a signed PDF. Included at every tier, not sold back to you as an upgrade.

When the form is an agreement, use the tool that signs.
