↗ · Sign Sail vs Jotform

Signatures shouldn't be the metered add-on.

Jotform is a great form builder with signing bolted on: Jotform Sign caps you at 100 signed documents a month on a $34/mo plan. Sign Sail treats every submission as signable, 1,000 a month from $12.

If you only need forms, Jotform is excellent, with one of the biggest template libraries anywhere. The comparison gets interesting when signatures enter the picture. Jotform Sign documents are metered separately from form submissions: 10 a month free, 100 on Bronze at $34/mo, 250 on Silver at $39/mo. Sign Sail doesn't split the meter. A submission is a submission whether it carries a signature or not, and Pro includes 1,000 of them for $12/mo billed annually.

· Fair is fair

When Jotform is the better pick.

  • You want a template for everything. Jotform's 10,000+ template library, app builder, and store features cover use cases Sign Sail doesn't try to.
  • You need HIPAA features with a signed BAA. Jotform offers HIPAA compliance on its Gold plan; Sign Sail gives you HIPAA-friendly consent capture but not a BAA.
  • You collect payments inside forms. Jotform's payment-processor integrations are mature; Sign Sail doesn't process payments.
  • Your volume is forms-only with almost no signing. Jotform's free and Bronze tiers are generous on plain submissions.

· Questions

Asked before you switch.

Both tools build forms with signatures. What's actually different?

The meter. Jotform counts signed documents separately from form submissions and the allowance is small: 100 a month on the $34 Bronze plan. Sign Sail has one meter, submissions, and every one of them can include a legally binding signature. Pro includes 1,000 a month at $12/mo billed annually. If most of your forms end in a signature, that difference is the whole comparison.

Is Sign Sail's form builder as capable as Jotform's?

It's narrower on purpose. You get 14 field types, file uploads, conditional logic, QR codes, and CSV/Excel export, which covers intake forms, waivers, registrations, and agreements. Jotform goes wider: payments, approval flows, an app builder, thousands of templates. If you need that breadth, Jotform is the better form tool. If your forms exist to get signed, Sign Sail is built around that.

Can I move my Jotform forms to Sign Sail?

There's no automated importer, but rebuilding is quick: the builder is drag-and-drop and most intake or waiver forms take 10 to 20 minutes to recreate. Start with the Sign Sail template closest to your form and adjust fields from there.

Legal-grade on every plan.

Every signature carries the signer's IP, a UTC timestamp, the user-agent, a SHA-256 hash, and a frozen copy of the form, baked into a signed PDF. Included at every tier, not sold back to you as an upgrade.

One meter, and signatures are always on it.

Build the form, share the QR code, collect 25 signed submissions a month free. Upgrade to 1,000 for $12/mo billed annually.
