↗ · Sign Sail vs DocuSign
Stop counting envelopes.
DocuSign meters you per envelope, per user. Sign Sail charges a flat $0, $12, or $29 a month and lets every submission carry a legally binding signature. Here's the honest side-by-side.

DocuSign is the default name in e-signatures, and for big-company contract workflows it's earned that. The catch is the meter: the Standard plan includes 100 envelopes per user per year, and an envelope counts the moment you send it, signed or not. If you're collecting waivers, intake forms, or registrations, you'll burn through that in a month. Sign Sail was built for exactly that gap: forms and signatures in one tool, metered by a monthly submission cap that starts at 1,000 on the first paid tier.

↗ · Fair is fair
When DocuSign is the better pick.
- You need EU Qualified Electronic Signatures, notarization, or ID verification. DocuSign's compliance catalogue goes far deeper than Sign Sail's ESIGN/UETA/eIDAS-SES coverage.
- Your legal or procurement team requires the incumbent vendor. DocuSign passes enterprise vendor reviews on name recognition alone, and sometimes that's worth the price.
- You live inside Salesforce or a CLM workflow. DocuSign's enterprise integrations and contract-lifecycle tooling have no Sign Sail equivalent.
- You send a handful of plain contracts a year and the $10/mo Personal plan's 5 envelopes are genuinely enough.

Asked before you switch.
Is Sign Sail's signature as legally binding as DocuSign's?
For standard electronic signatures, yes. Both satisfy the ESIGN Act, UETA, and eIDAS Simple Electronic Signature requirements: intent, consent, attribution, and record integrity. Sign Sail bundles the signer's IP, timestamp, user-agent, a SHA-256 hash, and a frozen copy of the form into every signed PDF. DocuSign goes further at the top end with EU Qualified Electronic Signatures, which Sign Sail doesn't offer.
What does an envelope actually cost on each tool?
DocuSign Standard at $25 per user per month (billed annually) includes 100 envelopes per user per year, about $3 per envelope if you use them all, and an envelope counts when sent whether or not it's signed. Sign Sail Pro at $12/mo billed annually includes 1,000 submissions a month, under 2 cents each at full use, and unsigned sends don't count.
Can I migrate my DocuSign templates to Sign Sail?
There's no one-click import. For document templates, upload the underlying PDF to Sign Sail and place fields once, or type tags like {{sig:s1}} into the document and Sign Sail places the fields automatically on upload. Most teams move their top 5 to 10 templates over in an afternoon.
