Can a parent legally consent for their child electronically?
Yes. The guardian's electronic signature is valid under ESIGN and UETA, and the form records their stated relationship to the child alongside the IP, timestamp, and the exact consent text. That's a more complete record than a slip from a backpack.
What if parents share custody or a guardian signs?
The relationship dropdown puts the signer's authority on the record (parent, legal guardian, authorized caregiver). For situations where your policy requires a specific guardian, state that in the form text so the consent is explicit about who must sign.
How do we chase the families who haven't signed?
Submissions land in a table you can export, so the outstanding list is your roster minus the responses. Resend the same link in a reminder email; there's no new form to generate per family.
